Atlantis, Lemuria and Now

There were once vast continents spanning the Earth, landmasses lost to history and denied by mainstream historians and archaeologists. The final portions of Atlantis sank 12,000 years ago and little remains. Long before this, the continent of Lemuria covered half the globe before vanishing beneath the waves. Are there parallels between these civilizations and our own?
